Within the U.S., access to books is essential to reading development in order to better build listening ability, grow imagination, help in areas of concentration, support increased test scores, improve communication skills, and reduce stress. With your help, Hands Across the Wabash can ensure that at-risk children of Greater Lafayette own books, and learn how books can come alive.
Hands Across the Wabash stands to promote cultural literacy in Greater Lafayette by empowering school children to achieve their creative and intellectual potential through reading, languages and the arts. Those involved in the Purdue community are encouraged to volunteer as mentors to create an accepting place for the potential to better learn.
Please join us in supporting the cause of literacy at Starry Night on Friday, September 23rd. Come visit the Hands Across the Wabash booth for more information and, as a part of the Purdue community, sign up to volunteer to serve in this capacity.
